My graduate work was on prostitution in mining camps of the American West. Most of the information came from Butte, Montana. However, some of it came from Jerome.
I was into immigration and ethnic regionalism. I remember reading some interesting diaries, etc., regarding Butte! Yes, Jerome loves to romanticize the role of the prostitute here. My character in my novel stays at a boarding house run by her aunt. The character, Sally, is not a prostitute but she’s a dancer at the Jerome Theater. Jerome was the happening place to be in 1927. Anyway, Interesting!
Christmas Day weather was dreadful but I couldn’t have cared less. It’s the most indoors day of the year for me. I hope you had a great day and are having a nice Boxing Day too.
Hi Cindy! Greetings from New England. I’m not back yet until the 1st but finally got a chance for a bit of r&r after a whirlwind NYC trip. How’s your Christmas? Hope it was a great one. Lovely picks, I absolutely love that sunset shot!
Thanks, Ruth! NE is beautiful; I’m glad you are getting the chance to experience it. Boston? VT? Wherever you are, hope you and Ivan (sp) are having fun. 🙂
Oh good. I’ve been ultra busy entertaining extended family, children, etc. Haven’t been blogging much although hope to post something today. Be safe, Cindy
Did you take the pictures? Gorgeous! Arizona looks like a place I want to visit. I live in Maine so it all feels alien to me. Anyhow, hope you are enjoying the holidays.
Hi Eric.Yes, I take my own shots. These are outside my door. I love it here. I used to live in Maine — quite a beautiful state! I was downeast at Machias. What part are you from?
“These are outside my door.” WOW! That’s awesome. You lucky lady! Isn’t Machias near the Canadian border? I haven’t been there yet. I live in Brunswick, near the Bowdoin College.
I’ve been there! Beautiful. It was back in my Navy days when my husband and I were stationed at a Naval Communication Unit. Very remote. Loved the lobster. 🙂
Happy Holidays.
Thank you!
I’ve done some historical research in Jerome. It’s an interesting little town.
Yes, it is! I have been having a great time researching Jerome and Clarkdale. What was your angle?
