Oops, how could I forget the cacti from the recent post “Best Shots of 2017”?
Last winter and spring in Arizona we had abnormal amounts of precipitation. As a result, they say every seven years or so we get the blankets of wildflowers and obscene cacti blossomings which gives the desert landscape brilliant colors and easy photo opportunities. Most below come from the prickly pear. The name “prickly pear” refers to the cactus species Opuntia and also to the fruits these cacti produce. They produce paddle or cylinder like leaves and the fruits are edible and used in making jellies and juices. And tasty margaritas.
(Here you go, Pete.)
