5 Shots: Camping at the Rim

Blue Valley. Below are the small towns of Strawberry-Pine.

We wanted to get away for 24 hours. Off we went yesterday to our new favorite spot of the escarpment that is the 200 mile Mogollon Rim. For my blogging-buddy Fraggle, whose photographs I admire because she has people in them, I created this post. Normally, I focus on the landscape. Rarely do I humanize my outings. This time, Jim and I brought along our granddaughter Milly and our new puppy, Ruby. Which one do you like best?

  1. All good of course, but I actually like the camp fire best. There’s something about flames, and sitting around them.
Glad you had a nice break in your ‘Hobbit’ caravan. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
    Best wishes, Pete. x

  2. They are all terrific shots, but since you decided to add people, lets go with Milly and Ruby, two best friends out for a walk in a gorgeous setting!

  3. The roots are scraggly and jagged, but look smooth to the touch. they’re old and new, gray and red, spreading, but contained in the clearing. I find that photo a splendid blend of contradictions that somehow work together. It’s my favorite!

  4. As always, I like the dog best (last picture). After that.”Crags. Sandstone and limestone” which has so many different colours and textures.

  5. Ah yes, peoples!! I love these Cindy, the puppy is gorgeous and the shot of Milly and Grandad together is special, but my absolute fave is the one of Milly stood on the rock and facing you, with that grand vista behind her. Well done and do more πŸ™‚

  6. You do like to give us the tough questions, don’t you? My photography favorite is # 2. The one that produced the Ahhh-moment is # 8, with Grandpa, Milly and Ruby!

    • She was close to the edge and it different frighten her. I wonder what that means when she becomes a teenager? πŸ˜‰ Thank you for casting your vote, Abbi.

  7. Hard to choose as usual. The masthead reminded me of the Kodaikanal Hills in the distance as we did our annual thousand klms pilgrimage to enjoy a break six thousand feet up from the blistering hot plains in India. I eventually settled on the roots as it reminded me of the cycle of death and regeneration with the green plants surrounding them. πŸ™‚

  9. I’ve a fondness for photos of people in nature, taking it in. I also have really enjoyed all your nature shots too, so this is a wonderful mix. My favorite is Molly, grandpa and Ruby. That’s lovely
