Auf Wiedersehen

I believe one should always leave on a high note.

Here’s my high C.

After almost nine years of blogging, I’m bowing out. Why? Illnesses. Books to write. Family drama. Death. Despair. Exhaustion.

My health is poor. I need to focus on improving that. Maybe in a year or two, when I am finally able to retire, if I’m not dead, I will resume my blog and start fresh. As for now, I’m a snake that’s shedding her skin and in no position to read or respond to your posts or have the creative juices to come up with something interesting to read.

Good riddance, 2020.

Love & Friendship,

  1. A very sad day for me, but I understand completely.
You know my email address of course, and please let me know when your latest book is for sale.
As for anything else, contact me anytime, dearest Cindy.
I will miss you even more than you already know.
    As ever, Pete. xx

  2. Hi Cindy, I wish you a return to good health very soon – of course that should be a priority, and it has been a tough year for you. I hope to see you around and, if not here, then maybe the North coast of Scotland! Do take care.

  3. Yes please take time your you! You need to heal in so many ways. Rest, rejuvenate and get you mind, body and soul healthy again. In a few years I will be able to step away from the noise and spend time in nature and it will be nice to spend some time with my sister out there. Take care!!

  4. Cindy,
It saddens me to hear that you’re not doing well, and of course I don’t like for you to leave the blogosphere, but I can fully understand the reasons. I wish you all the best for your future, and I hope to maybe see you blogging again some times in the future.
Take care, and get/stay well: alles Gute und auf Wiedersehen,

    • I liked your photos and essays, Neil, because your posts got at the heart of the NE. I was stationed in E. Machias, ME in the 1980s. I love Cape Cod and got my MFA at Goddard in VT. I have a big love for the NE. Living in AZ, your posts were a drink of water. Cheers!

    • You might find this strange, but you are one of the prime reasons I will finish this book. Maybe I’m a mediocre writer and this is a vanity project, you are my ardent supporter. Since the beginning, you have encouraged me and found my writing worth reading. Wow. Bless you.

      • First, you are not a ‘vanity writer’. You have something to say and the skill to say it. I got a lot of enjoyment in your first two and I can hardly wait to read the third.
Anthony Burgess, who I had the pleasure of knowing, was a schoolteacher who was very sick and wanted to leave his family something. So he wrote A Clockwork Orange and he credits the therapy of writing it for his getting better and writing so much more,
        Rest and write.
I have faith in you and your talent.

  6. Sad to see you go and certainly wish you good health and happiness. Hopefully as things clarify for you we will see you again soon in spite of the decision to chill out for a while. I have really appreciated your photography and the interesting blogs you share with us. You are special Cindy and you have blessed our souls. πŸ™‚

  7. Oh man, this news hurts.

And yet I completely understand. I’ll hope without expectation you’re on a prolonged sabbatical rather than retiring from WordPress. πŸ˜‰ Your blog has been a mainstay in my time with WordPress for the last decade. You’ve been a terrific place for me to escape to via your photography and prose, a portfolio of content I really think is unmatched around here. You’ve been a steady and unwavering supporter of my writing for all these years, whether it’s been DSB or Thomas J, a commitment of your time that I cannot thank you enough for. It’s always been a pleasure, and I wish you the best in your writing and education and far above and beyond that, your health as well. Cheers.

    • There are a lot of film bloggers out there. You were always my favorite. My sincere wishes you have a flourishing outpour of admiration and success. You have the talent for both. Aim high.

  8. Say it ain’t so Cindy 😦 Reading this made me cry, especially since your blog entries brighten my days. Nevertheless, I understand you have a lot on your mind and need to go on hiatus and I hope your health improves as well. Anyway, keep up the great work as always πŸ™‚

  9. Cindy this is a sad day indeed but a happy one too. You were very pivotal in encouraging my blogging and making me engaged in a blogging community. You are a teacher through and through. I thank you for our time together and keep an open mind it may continue but for now your health and your dreams and the things that give you the most joy should be pursued. Nothing else. You earn that a long time ago. I will miss you but I hope, I hope. Best wishes to you and yours in the future and thank you MS Bruce Man. πŸ™‚

  10. I left 3 comments here in the end, but discovered that yesterday most of my comments to people ended up in the spam section. Sigh. So You’ll have 3 of mine in there telling you that I’m going to miss you and your words and photo’s, and maybe if this one goes in there there’ll be 4!!

  11. Cindy, I hear you. All things are changing. And us too. We have to make choices.
Thank you for what you have given us over these years.
    You will be missed.
Just hope you might be back again at some point.
