On May 25, 2019, I took an early morning walk on the eastern side of Kaui. Since the 2020 lockdown, I’ve been itching to travel. I enjoy plastering on my computer monitor this day from the past which helps to satisfy my wanderlust inclinations. Here are six shots from the walk. Which one do you like best?

Hi Cindy! Taken on my Birthday! I was in Sheffield celebrating a friend’s wedding – we were with them when they got married in Vegas in the April. These are lovely images to look at – especially with everything going on – and a nice reminder that there’s a whole world out there! The sunrise looks spectacular. Any trips planned? Any idea of when you might be travelling again??

Happy belated Birthday, Sarah! Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your sunny disposition. Yes, I’m planning. I’ve been innoculated and Covid tested and all is well in that regard. Jim and I try to have an anniversary trip (married in April, 2018) as soon as I’m released from teaching for the year. This year we are trying Cabo, Mexico. We are going to stay on the Pacific Ocean side where there are few tourists, preferring to drive to the chaos than stay in it. We’ll see!
My son moved to South Carolina and I hope to see him in July. We are flying to Virginia in two weeks. I’m sure I’ll have pictures then. 🙂

Thank you for the (past!)birthday wishes and congratulations on your upcoming anniversary! Great to be able to plan these trips!! We were watching one of the British chefs on TV do a trip along (I think) the Pacific side of Mexico and it did look amazing! Look forward to seeing those pics!

We’re anticipating a house move in a few weeks so writing is on hiatus currently – which is a little frustrating – although I did have a spurt of editing a few weeks ago. How’s it going with your writing? Have you managed to get much done with the teaching as well?

Writing was going well during months of December- January. Then we went back to in-class teaching late in January and poof! Hardly any writing done. A little each day, and write now I’m thinking about a plot struggle. WW2 is hard to write about. Ach well! If I keep my mind from thinking too much, I get more accomplished. 😉

I’ve had links to both – (Scottish) parents lived in Georgia/South Caronlina/Tennessee for a few years funnily enough and I have friends in NJ. However, I live in the south east of England, in Kent.
Well done on the writing – every little bit counts. Having a bit of a break can be a good thing occasionally. Your research is taking you well beyond Europe though isn’t it? I should think that you’re trying to find territory that’s not well chartered!
But teaching and school does get in the way occasionally (hence my later reply to your query…!).
I look forward to reading some more chapters if you post them!

I’m trying! I wish I still had that 30s drive and grit to get up at 2AM and work until it was time to go to work. I am now getting up at 5. Feels like sleeping in.

As I have never been anywhere as lush and exotic as Hawaii, I can’t choose one from those. Good to hear you have trips planned. I have never been to Mexico either!
I am far less inclined than you to travel, until things really calm down. We have booked a week away on the Lincolnshire coast, same place as last year. That’s not until September, when we will hopefully have fewer restrictions here.

Thank you, Pete. Until I can do more, pictures are fast and easy and a lot of fun to do. People visit my photo posts more than when I write something serious. I’m glad to hear from everyone, especially you.
Have fun in Lincolnshire again. There seem to be two kinds of travelers. The ones who enjoy the comfort and familiarity with returning to a favorite spot. And the other, visit somewhere different. I haven’t been to Mexico, either. I hope I take some good pictures. 🙂

She was special! She is protected and no one can go too close to her. She’s ancient (says the placard). Her name is Sue and she comes every year to the same beach. It was a rare treat.

As much as I love the spider lily and the snoozing sea lion, my favorite has to be Steps from our door. It looks like a scene out of a movie!

I am suffering from real #Wanderlust, and we are determined to get vaccinated in time to take our Greece vacation in June, if that country is re-opened…I love all of your shots, what nothing tops a snoozing Sea Lion! Terrific shots all!

Ha, ha. Yes, I wanted to see dolphins, lions (no bears) but a lot of chickens! I hope you get to Greece. It’s taking a long time to vaccinate everyone. I got mine a month ago (teacher) and feel glad to start traveling. I’m going to try Cabo first in June. Never been!

I took my daughter there two years ago – we had a blast! I you want to know the company we booked our snorkeling adventure with let me know…they were terrific! They pick you up at your hotel, serve food and drinks on the boats, and take you to great snorkeling spots with all the gear you need!

I love everything about the Pacific Ocean. Have only transited through the Hawaiian Islands but have visited other Islands in the Pacific. Flying over the Pacific in a large commercial jet gives you some joy but if you really want to enjoy it flying over in a small plane at lower altitudes is the best. Some of the islands still have junk on them left over from WWII and some of that junk when it rusts out will be highly toxic like on overgrown airstrip in Saipan with thousands of fuel barrels unless that has been cleaned up by now. Not to mention the junkyard of plastic throwaways in the middle of the Pacific floating there from societies at its ocean rim. You have shown here just how gorgeous those islands can be when looked after.

Beautifuuulll!! Ivan and I were in Kauai nearly a decade ago and we had such fond memories of that place. That sea lion looked so cozy, what a happy camper… not a care in the world, ahahaha!
