We bought a mystery vine a couple months back for our back patio. The extreme heat made the blossoms hide in their pods. Finally last night a Monsoon hit and cooled off the Verde Valley. Out popped this surprise!
OOPS! A sign of staying home day after day. Is this a preview to retirement? I did not realize yesterday was Wednesday. Here’s a pretty pair of poppies for you. I took this shot a few years ago in Illinois from my mother’s garden. It’s one of the flowers I miss living in the Southwest. Unless you are in high country, you don’t get to see the fluffy, crepe heads of the poppy.

Arizona is made for wandering and hiking. You’ll never know what you’ll find. For instance, the cholla. There are several varieties. Spotting one of these in bloom reminds me there is beauty amongst the prickly parts of life. Find it and hold on.
