This idea came from my lovely stepdaughter who is quarantined in South Africa; she assigned this prompt to get to know herself better and others around her. Let’s try it!
What are YOUR 15 favorite albums? Not the highest ranking of all time or what the critics say. Which ones have you played a hundred times, and you still aren’t tired of listening to it? Your desert island collection. The choices you make reveal a lot about you, and that’s the purpose. 🙂
In no particular order, here is my desert island collection:
1. This is probably the best album of the 20 Century.
1. Janis Joplin’s soulful voice, her wails and ballads get me every time.
2. I was 8 years old when I fell for The Who.
3. I love Carol’s lyrics and her voice.
4. When I need to be energized.
5. This album never gets old.
6. Like the rest of the planet, I listened to Rumors in 1977 a hundred times.
7. My first exposure to British Pop when I was in the Navy. “Pale Shelter” is my favorite.
8. I was hooked with Boy, but love War more.
9. I wish I had a voice like Chrissie Hynde.
10. Need foreplay? Listen to this smooth album.
11. I listen to this in the dark.
12. Guilty pleasure! Steve Perry’s voice. I was 19 and scared in the Navy. This album was my comforter.
13. I ♥ DMB. A long time fan.
14. Incubus. Their harmonies and lyrics are fresh today as when this was released 20 years ago.
15. Fleet Foxes sound like CSN at times. I play this when I need to calm down.
So many albums! Can you narrow them down to 15?
In 1975, I was twelve years old. I bought this Chicago album with my babysitting money. I wore the grooves out of “25 or 6 to 4”.
